Rayyan OB Under vs. Man Defense

Line formation to begin.

#1 has the option to break in either direction with #4 breaking in the opposite direction. It is a good idea for #1 to usually break to the left for this play, however, having the point guard breaking out to the right from time to time might catch the defense sleeping and you could find #4 alone inside on the initial cut.

#2 breaks straight towards the ball but is not really a target on this play.

#5 inbounds the ball to #4 in the right corner. #5 then WAITS for #4 to pass the ball up to #3, who has made a nice v-cut out to catch the pass from #4.

As soon as #3 has the ball, #2 sets a screen for #5 stepping in and over the screen from #2. #3's first look is for #5 curling around the screen.

If #5 does not receive the ball, #4 is setting a down screen (pick the picker) for #2. #3 then looks to hit #2 in the right corner for the open jump shot.

It is important to not that the screening action does not begin until #3 has the ball. If #4 cannot receive the inbounds pass #5 will look to pass straight out to #3 on top.

Again, since #3 had received the ball on the pass straight out, the screening action would then begin.

#3 must stay in and wait to see if #4 receives the pass. If #3 breaks out too early and #4 receives the inbounds pass, then #4 may have difficulty passing the ball on top to #3 because he has already broken out and is most likely being denied.

Again, #3 stays in the free throw line elbow area until #4 gets the ball. Then he makes a nice v-cut to get open to receive the pass from #4. If #4 cannot receive the entry pass, then and only then will #3 break out to the top to get the inbounds pass from #5.
