Al Rayyan Zone Offense Set Play (any color)

In our color play we like to initially go away from the key player or side we are going to attack.

Here we see #1 passing to #2 on the right wing (going away from #3, who we want to use in this play). #4 and #5 execute their usual cuts to get into our offense. The key to a great set play vs. a zone is if you can create a look not so unusual from your natural zone movements, thus not tipping off the play.

The ball is then reversed to #1 on top (#1 and #3 do not execute their natural exchange when the ball is passed to #2).

As always, #5 steps in and looks for the ball while #4 sprints across the lane looking for a post up opportunity and pass from #3.

#1 and #2 now do their interchange while #3 waits for #5 cutting off the back of #4 to the short corner area.

Al Rayyan Zone Offense Set Play (any color)

As #2 receives the pass, #5 steps into the middle of the floor looking to post up out in front of the basket, occupying the middle defender. #5 steps out and back screens the wing defender while #3 moves to the basket behind the defense for either a direct pass or a lob pass to the rim. If #4's defender looks to help on this action, #4 will be wide open. If the man #5 is screening cuts under the screen trying to stop the lob, #5 may have a wide open mid-range or three point shot in the wing or corner area.
