Notes from Kelvin Sampson

Don't try and emphasize too much. Pick three areas of concentration. He looks at:

1) Assist to Turnover Ratio

2) Offensive Rebounding

3) Field Goal Percentage Defense

Quotes:

"Shooting is not equal opportunity."

"Put your players in a position where they will not turn the ball over."

"Nothing has been taught, until it has been learned. Nothing has been learned, until it has been taught."

"Your offense must have low post options and jump shot options."

"Put an NBA 3 pt. line down on your court to teach spacing".

Screening:

1) Screening is an attitude

2) Straddle the foot closest to you

3) Cause a collision

I had the opportunity to watch a lot of the World Championships recently in Japan. I would like to highlight a couple of the teams and their successful sets and systems throughout the tournament. In the past two months we have looked at New Zealand and Greece. Our last team we will look at is Lithuania:

Lithuania OB Under 1

Lithuania OB Under 2

Lithuania Quick Hitter 1 vs. man defense

Lithuania Quick Hitter 2 vs. man defense

Lithuania Quick Hitter 3 vs. man defense

Lithuania Quick Hitter 4 vs. man defense

Lithuania Set Play 1 vs. man defense

Lithuania Set Play 2 vs. man defense

Lithuania Set Play 3 vs. man defense

Lithuania Set Play 4 vs. man defense

This is only a small cross-section of what Lithuania had to offer. We have the full list included in our "members only" area at Scouting Hoops.
